Introduction of Manipur and Manipuri dance

From the ancient  time dance is the expression of emotions, feelings and opinion through the movement and manipulation of the body. In the Hindu scriptures , dance is believed to be convict of Brambha. Brambha inspired Bharat muni the sage to write the Natya Sastra. he used pathya means words from the Rig veda, avinaya means gestures from the Yajurveda, geet means music from the Samveda & rasa  means emotions from Atharvaveda to form Natyaveda , body of knowledge about dance. India offers a number of classical and folk dance forms. dance of India also inspires other form of arts like sculpture, paintings, music, architecture etc. 

India is a country of various cultures this is why there are various forms of Indian dance. Every part of this country has its own flavor of art and culture. Manipuri dance form is a versatile dance form of India. Manipur is a state of northeast part of this country near Burma boarder. Manipuri dance covers o number of different dances. there is a belief that the creator of Manipuri dance is Radha & Krishna.
Manipur also mentioned in Hindu mythology. In the the Mahabharata, it is referred that Manipur is a beautiful place, the people are well cultures and religious minded. They were exclusively attached to the lord Krishna who is always in their thought. The people are very simple and happy. They are very sweet and softspoken. Capital of Manipur is imphal and it is surrounded by hills. In the Mahabharata, Manipur is also mentioned as the meeting place of the third Pandava Arjun and the crown princess of Manipur Chitrangada. On this story of Chitrangada there is a famous Rabindra nritya natya named on the princess (dance drama).

Manipur presents a mosaic of traditions and culture patterns. Manipuri dance forms is very famous but very much distinct form other Indian dance forms. The Manipuri dance whether folk, classical or modern, is devotional by nature. The dances of the people have a high aesthetic & artistic value. the folk dances of people captivate the beholders with their simple but graceful rhythm and exotic costumes. Their folklore is rich in quality. the dances are ritualistic, recreational, religious and temporal. The ritual dances are particularly performed at ceremony of sacrifice and these dances naturally have a spiritual and religious basis.The dances have a high artistic and aesthetic value. This form of dance have various styles including thang of martial arts. These are woven into very fabric of Manipuri's  life a beautiful pattern.
